Dr. Yasemin Kübra Akyel graduated from the Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy in 2015 and earned her PhD from the Department of Pharmacology at the same institution in 2021. Her doctoral research focused on circadian rhythms and the pharmacokinetics of anticancer drugs. Following her PhD, Dr. Akyel joined the Department of Medical Pharmacology at Istanbul Medipol University, School of Medicine as a faculty member. In 2022, she was awarded the prestigious TÜBİTAK Aziz Sancar Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and relocated to the United States to conduct postdoctoral research at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, in the Aziz Sancar Laboratory, where she served as a visiting researcher. As of November 2024, Dr. Akyel has been appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Aziz Sancar Laboratory, where she continues her innovative research. Dr. Akyel conducted extensive research on circadian rhythm-dependent changes in anticancer drug pharmacology and contributed to various preclinical studies exploring the therapeutic effects of small molecules that modulate circadian rhythms. She is currently advancing her work in the fields of circadian rhythms and DNA repair.
