Dr. Deepak Kalaskar is an Academic and Scientific Research Consultant based in London, UK. As a multidisciplinary scientist, he has extensive experience in research, management, and education, specializing in biomedical engineering, biomaterials, and 3D fabrication technologies. Dr. Kalaskar's work focuses on developing novel materials, analysing their properties, and applying them to solve real-life medical problems. His expertise spans biomaterials, biocompatible coatings, 3D printing technologies, medical device and implant design, regenerative medicine, and bio-nanotechnology. He has contributed to studies and policy documents on 3D printing and 3D bioprinting, providing reviews for the UK Patent Office and the UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST). As the founder of the International Bioprinting Research Platform, he aims to enhance research and educational activities in bioprinting. He also leads the 3DP Digital Innovation Platform, which integrates the latest VR technology with 3D printing for training, surgical planning, and research. Currently, Dr. Kalaskar co-chairs and directs the postgraduate MSc course in Burns, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery at University College London (UCL) and is actively involved in clinically translational research. He collaborates with various industries to develop new products and processes essential for clinical translation.
