Dr. Berna Karakoyun Laçin was born in Izmir. She completed her master's degree and doctorate in medical sciences at Marmara University, Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physiology (School of Medicine), and became an associate professor and professor in the same department. Dr. Karakoyun Laçin, who worked as an associate professor at Marmara University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Basic Health Sciences until 2019, taught Physiology in English for 2 years at Cyprus Eastern Mediterranean University, School of Medicine. She also gave master's and doctorate courses at Marmara University, Institute of Health Sciences and served as a thesis advisor. Between 2012-2013, she conducted research in the Department of Neurology, Boston University School of Medicine in the United States of America for one year. Since 2019, Dr. Karakoyun Laçin, who has been working as a professor at the Department of Physiology, Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences, established the Gastrointestinal System Physiology Research Laboratory. Dr. Karakoyun Laçin has many scientific publications, editorial board membership and editorship in national and international refereed journals in the field of Physiology. She also contributes to the organization of national scientific meetings and is involved in many grant-funded projects. Dr. Karakoyun Laçin, who teaches Physiology courses at Hamidiye School of Medicine, and International Faculties of Dentistry and Nursing at University of Health Sciences, also teaches postgraduate courses and supervises doctoral theses at Hamidiye Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physiology. Dr. Karakoyun Laçin is a member of the Turkish Physiological Sciences Association, Free Radicals and Antioxidants Association and Federation of European Physiological Societies (FEPS) and has received national and international awards for her research in the field of Physiology.
