Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Üçkayabaşı

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Üçkayabaşı graduated from Çukurova University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Biology undergraduate program in 2014. He completed his master's degree in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Institute of Health Sciences, Çukurova University, in 2017, and successfully obtained his PhD from the same university and department in 2022. During his postgraduate education, he worked as a researcher at the Tropical Diseases Research and Application Center, where he conducted significant studies on the diagnosis and treatment of various exotic diseases, particularly tuberculosis. Additionally, he actively participates in multidisciplinary research in collaboration with different universities and is an active member of the Mycobacteria Study Group of the Turkish Society of Microbiology (TMC). Dr. Üçkayabaşı's doctoral thesis was supported by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS). His research interests include mycobacteriology, bacteriology, molecular microbiology, and molecular genetics, and he has published numerous articles in SCI and SCI-expanded indexed journals. Since 2024, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Kent University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology. His research areas include the molecular surveillance of tuberculosis and the elucidation of resistance mechanisms, the identification of major hospital infections and antimicrobial resistance profiles, and cancer-microbiome interactions.
