Born in Istanbul in 1968, Dr. Atsü completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul and his undergraduate education at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine in 1991. He completed his specialist training at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology and became a Urology Specialist in 2000. In addition, he continued his work in the fields of Endourology and Uroncology at the same university for two more years. He became an Associate Professor in 2006 and a Professor in 2015. He has nearly 50 publications, mostly in foreign journals, presented at domestic and foreign congresses, more than 150 papers and over 300 academic citations. He has received professional awards at domestic and international Urology congresses. He is a member of many scientific associations, primarily the Association of Urological Surgery (ÜCD), Turkish Urological Association (TÜD), American Urological Association (AUA) and European Urological Association (EAU), and has served as a journal referee. He has been working as an academician at Hasan Kalyoncu University since 2015. Apart from his academic career; Dr. Atsü, who has been working as a urologist in various public and private hospitals for nearly 20 years, was appointed as the Rector of Istanbul Kent University on January 14, 2020. His wife, Assoc. Prof. Nilhan Atsü, is a dermatology specialist, and his son M. Emre Atsü is currently pursuing his master's degree at the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) at Oxford University.
