Prof. Dr. Betül Yılmaz graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy in 2003 and completed her master's degree in Pharmaceutical Toxicology at Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy in 2005 and her doctorate at the Biochemistry Institute of Stuttgart Hohenheim University, Germany, in 2009. After her doctorate, she started working as a research assistant at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Biochemistry Department. Yılmaz still continues to work as a lecturer in the same department. Dr. Yılmaz is also involved in education and research activities as a guest lecturer at Rize RTEU and Cyprus EMU Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Yılmaz is the director of the Genetic and Metabolic Diseases Research and Application Center, the research laboratory operating within Marmara University. Yılmaz continues to work on 3D tumor microenvironment models in different cancer types such as glioblastoma, breast, colon and lung cancer, and has carried these studies to the point of personalized cancer studies in the models she created with patient samples. Dr. Yılmaz has over 150 publications, most of them in SCI-indexed journals, and she has many completed and ongoing national and international TÜBİTAK and TÜSEB related projects. Dr. Yılmaz's publications have received over 4000 citations so far and his h-index is 30.
