Does low ferritin cause stress?

It would be medically oversimplified to say that low ferritin directly “creates stress,” but the fatigue, reduced stamina, poor concentration, and general sense of not feeling well can increase a person’s stress burden. Long-lasting tiredness, reduced work performance, and hair loss may add psychological strain. Some people experience this as anxiety, irritability, or reduced tolerance. At the same time, chronic stress itself can worsen sleep and eating habits, which may negatively affect overall health. So the relationship is often bidirectional. The stress felt by someone with low ferritin can be very real, but it should not automatically be assumed that ferritin is the only cause. The most accurate approach is to evaluate both biological and psychological factors together.
