What is the first aid for a cat scratch?
First, wash the wound thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 1–2 minutes. Then apply an appropriate antiseptic and cover with a clean dressing. Deep bites, heavy bleeding, or contaminated wounds should be assessed sooner. Check whether your tetanus vaccination is up to date. Monitor for rapidly increasing redness, swelling, warmth, pus, fever, or swollen lymph nodes—these signs warrant medical evaluation.
