How can ferritin be increased naturally with herbal or plant-based approaches?

Ferritin can be supported through plant-based strategies, but the goal is not to find a food that literally contains ferritin. Instead, the focus is on building a diet that supports iron intake and absorption. Legumes, dark leafy greens, tahini, molasses, dried fruits, and some nuts are among the plant-based iron sources. Combining these foods with vitamin C-rich items can improve absorption. For example, meals built around spinach, lentils, or chickpeas may benefit from being paired with a lemon-based salad. However, plant-based iron is absorbed less efficiently than iron from animal sources. In more significant ferritin deficiency, relying only on natural or herbal strategies may not be enough. That is why plant-based support can be useful in mild cases, but in more pronounced deficiency it should be combined with proper medical evaluation and, when necessary, targeted iron treatment.
