If we live healthy, what should ferritin be?

Having healthy lifestyle habits does not mean ferritin will always sit at one fixed number. Ferritin is influenced by diet, menstrual blood loss, gut absorption, genetics, exercise intensity, and associated health conditions. That means even physically active, well-nourished, health-conscious people can still have low or high ferritin. Healthy living supports better iron balance, but it does not guarantee a perfect lab result. The main goal is for ferritin to be appropriate for the individual’s clinical situation and for iron balance to remain stable. If someone lives well but still experiences fatigue, hair loss, reduced stamina, or concentration problems, ferritin may still need evaluation. Healthy living matters, but individual biology still has to be respected when interpreting lab values.
