What is detox?
In popular use, “detox” refers to short-term diets, drinks, or cleanses that claim to remove “toxins.” Scientifically, your body already has detoxification pathways—primarily the liver, kidneys, gut, lungs, and skin. Many detox plans appear to “work” because they reduce ultra-processed foods and alcohol and increase hydration, not because they prove toxin removal. Rapid scale drops are often water/glycogen changes rather than fat loss. Sustainable health comes from balanced nutrition, sleep, and movement; caution is advised with detox teas/supplements due to side effects and drug interactions.
