Hantavirus infection can resolve in some people, but the course depends on the virus type, the patient’s overall health, and how early medical care begins. Mild cases may improve with supportive treatment. Severe cases may require respiratory support, intensive care monitoring, fluid and electrolyte management, and close kidney function follow-up. Since there is no universally effective standard antiviral treatment for all hantavirus types, early diagnosis and supportive care are critical. If fever, shortness of breath, or reduced urination develops after possible rodent exposure, medical evaluation should not be delayed.
