Is a memory foam pillow orthopedic?
Memory foam (visco) is a material type; whether a pillow is “orthopedic” depends on its design. Not every memory foam pillow is orthopedic. To be considered orthopedic, it should provide geometry that supports neutral cervical alignment (often via cervical contouring), offer appropriate loft options, and retain shape over time. Flat, overly soft memory foam pillows may let the head sink too much and disrupt neck alignment. Therefore, “memory foam = orthopedic” is not a valid generalization. The best approach is to choose design and loft that match your sleep position and maintain alignment, potentially using adjustable loft or multiple-height options.
