Is atorvastatin a blood pressure medication?

Atorvastatin is not a blood pressure medication. It belongs to the statin class and is mainly used to lower LDL cholesterol levels. Blood pressure medications work to reduce blood pressure, while atorvastatin helps slow arterial plaque formation and reduce cardiovascular disease risk. Some patients may have both high blood pressure and high cholesterol. In such cases, a physician may prescribe both antihypertensive medication and atorvastatin as part of the same cardiovascular risk management plan.
