Who should use an orthopedic pillow?
Orthopedic pillows can be helpful for people who wake up with neck stiffness, desk workers with neck–shoulder tension, and side sleepers whose head tends to “hang” due to an unfilled shoulder gap. They may provide supportive benefits for neck straightening tendencies, tension-type headaches, mild to moderate neck pain, and frequent position changes during sleep. However, after acute injury, with severe neurological signs (arm weakness, significant numbness), suspected advanced disc disease, or post-surgical conditions, choosing a pillow at random is not appropriate—professional guidance is recommended. The goal is support and symptom reduction through better alignment, not a stand-alone treatment.
